Low Temperatures will continue until Wednesday

The authorities of the National Meteorological Service have informed the low temperatures product of a low pressure system that entered Honduras will continue until Wednesday.

Nevertheless, the temperatures in the north coast will suffer a slight increase of three degrees, according to the Civil Aeronautics Meteorological Service, meanwhile in Comayagua and Tegucigalpa the temperatures will remain low.

COPECO informed of the presence of a low pressure system that does not represent any threats to the country.

The low pressure system is located east of Costa Rica and north of Panama. According to weather reports, this phenomenon could become a Tropical Depression, remaining semi stationary during two days and then dissipated in the same area.

The low temperatures have been registered since November 17th due to the arrival of a cold front that came in from the Gulf of Mexico.
Meteorology informed cloudy skies are expected in most of the country, along with winds and low temperature in the north coast. The north coast will also be experiencing scattered showers and isolated showers for the rest of the country.

Vice-President of Congress Murdered

The current governor for the department of Cortes and vice-president of Congress, Mario Fernando Hernandez, was murdered on Monday in a shooting that took place in Barrio Cabanas of San Pedro Sula.

Marcos Collier, lawyer, also resulted dead during the shooting, both men where in a political meeting with one of the pre-candidates for mayor of that city.

The incident took place on the 15th street of barrio Cabanas, near the Penal Center of San Pedro Sula. The politician was participating in a medical brigade at the Luis Landa School, when he said he had to run an errand and would return promptly.

A few minutes later his fellow companions heard some shots and as they went out they found that Hernandez and Collier where the victims. Hernandez was left on the street while Collier was shot inside a car. According to reports, both men where shot from a moving vehicle.

The politician Mario Hernandez was currently the vice-president of the National Congress and a member of the security commission. He was born on November 7th of 1966. Collier worked for Hondutel.

Hernandez was also running to be re-elected as governor of Cortes.

Teachers will stop Primary Elections if Government doesn’t Pay their Salaries

The education leaders gave an ultimatum to the government to pay the salaries of over seven thousand teachers that have not received pay in months, if the government does not pay them in the next eight days, they will take over all the schools and stop the internal elections that are scheduled for November 30th.

The education leaders gathered yesterday morning at the Central Vicente Caceres Institute, where they decided to continue with their plan to boycott the primary elections and to hold the school year notes.

Later that afternoon, the minister of Education, Marlon Breve, summoned the education leaders at the offices of the Instituto de Prevision del Magisterio (Inprema). In this meeting, the minister promised the teachers their salary. They also created a commission to analyze the situation of over five thousand teachers, this way they can decide if they can or can’t pay their salaries.

They also have to decide if 2,300 teachers from Francisco Morazan, whose documents where not transferred to the roster, can receive their salaries.

The documents belonging to these teachers must be delivered today to the new Departmental director in Francisco Morazan to start analyzing them immediately.

Nevertheless, the pressure was made by the professors who demanded they get their salaries in the next few days. If this condition isn’t met, they will take over the public schools on November 25th.

The government, thru the Secretary of Finance, approved 300 million lempiras to pay the teachers salaries. This amount was not contemplated in the budget for the education sector of all the country.
