The Organization of American States on Saturday began steps to suspend Honduras from the 35-member group after the interim government said it would not reinstate Manuel Zelaya as the Central American nation’s president.
Suspension would make Honduras only the second country to suffer such a fate after Cuba was suspended, in 1962, following the Communist revolution.

Screw the OAS and fight for your freedom! Stay true to your principles because if you do not, the govt will steamroll you into submission. The shackles are now off people! Can you keep them that way? Thomas Jefferson said it is the right of the people to alter or overthrow oppressive regimes. You are now more free than any citizen in the U.S. May God bless all of you freedom-loving supporters in Honduras.

is incredible that the oas is suspending honduras i guess everybody is a comunist in the organisation after all that’s way they suspending a country that’s fighting for his DEMOCRASI by taking the power from a man that was trying to take over my country like chaves did, & like castro did and that’s way he was having so many meetings with them, thats why chaves said that he will go to war with us if we don’t reinstate his friend (selaya) in the power that’s why he stop selling oil to my country but like they said in my country WE RATHER TAKE 30 DAYS OF PRESSURE THAN 25 YEARS OF OPPRESSION

No matter what, the corrupt Zelaya wll never be the president in Honduras again and will have to pay for his crimes.

This is a real shame. Despite all the support many on this blog give to the new administration, a military coup was not the way to go at removing Zelaya. Ironically I doubt that most people even knew who Zelaya was until this coup. This whole situation has the potential to put Honduras in a far worse straits than before. I predict that is will be the Honduran people who will suffer, not the people currently in charge. This has the potential of becoming another Cuba. As with Cuba, the people at the top live well, while the common folk live in poverty. But as others before me have said- Honduras is the ORIGINAL banana republic. The screws are simply going to tighten now. We may very well be looking at the beginnings of a right wing dictatorship now, instead of the supposedly left wing one you may have had with Zelaya.

Thomas, I am curious if you have been to Honduras or know people in Honduras. I don’t want to judge you, but it seems you don’t have all the facts. I just returned from a mission trip to Honduras and know people who live there to help the poor. I don’t claim to know a lot about it, but I do believe these people who live there and have day to day contact with the Honduran people, do know what they are talking about.
This was not a military coup…or if you want to call it that, at least call it a “legal military coup”. Please read the article on this website http://hondurasnews.com/2009/07/02/what-happened-according-to-the-constitution/
They were following their laws and their constitution. Maybe you don’t agree with it, but that doesn’t make it illegal. I too think it is a shame that the Honduran people, who are such lovely gracious souls, many of who already suffer extreme poverty and hardship, will suffer more. I am also very upset and ashamed that MY government seems to be supporting Zelaya and Chavez.

I think the we are sending the wrong message. President Chavez, Correa, even Zelaya all criticized the OEA and the Democratic letter now they are all standing behind it to promote their cause. I even hear Cuba having an opinion Say What? RU Kidding me. Honduras has taught even the US the no one is above the Constitution (3) CHEERS to HONDURAS and thank you for showing us the Chavez Effect LOL!

Thomas Jefferson said it best
Give Freedom or give me death.
I AM FOR LIBERTY

I spend every winter in Honduras and know many Hondurans INCLUDING one member of the congress.
Karen has it right.
Honduras has in the past been considered by they’re neighbors to be weak and easily pushed around because they don’t overthrow their governments as regularly as they’re neighbors
NOW when they do LEGALLY in KEEPING with their own constitution the world MISREPRESENTS the FACTS and try’s to force thier own will on them.
Obama has made a grave error in supporting the CRIMINAL ZALAYA

i believe this gentleman Zelaya was not in charge of the presidency in fact i think Chavez was the one running our country, one thing i dont understand i why is the usa siding with all the terrorists like chavez, noriega and all the south american presidents? the us always stick their noses where they dont belong and in this case the made a very poor choice ny not helping honduras at all.

I supported Obama as a black man, but for him to side with Zelaya and chavez, is outrageous, i am a honduran an i know what the people are like, we are all for peace, but we wont be dictated to by the USA or anyone else even if it means war, they should all mind their own business and let us resolve our own problems,

the USA helped Nicaragua straigth in to communism, then had to help them out to save face, now they are siding with the wrong side again, with Zelaya and chavez, its outrageous, i am a honduran an i know what the people are like, we are all for peace, but we wont be dictated to by the USA or anyone else even if it means war, they should all mind their own business and let us resolve our own problems,

I am a friend of all Hondurans. My son’s wife is from San Pedro and I have been there many times. I have helped them out many times and will continue to do so. I am also an investor in Honduras. I think more Americans will invest if you folks in Honduras stand up to Castro and Hugo. I also know people in countries such as South Korea and Israel that will support you. Obama is a communist and does not represent the main stream of America. His time will be short and even shorter if he sells out Honduras.

I LIVED IN ROATAN HONDURAS FOR OVER A YEAR AND I AM AN INVESTOR. I AM GLAD THAT THE GOVERNMENT OUSTED ZELAYA. AFTER READING ABOUT THE CONSTITUCION OF HONDURAS, THEY DID THE RIGHT THING. AND I KNOW THAT ZELAYA WITH THE HELP OF CHAVEZ, WERE PAYING MONEY TO THE CAMPESINOS TO GO TO THE RIOTS. I HOPE THE OTHER COUNTRIES LET HONDURAS RESOLVE THEIR OWN PROBLEMS AND GO TO THE ELECTIONS, (THOMAS, GO TO LIVE IN CUBA)
