Myself and family lived in Honduras for eight years and have returned each year for visits since 1994. Two months ago we were appaled at the changes and fear growing in the residents of Honduras with Zelaya's dominating regime. The business structure was crumbling within a short period and people were fearful of their country falling into the hands of communism. What we had experienced as a beautiful peacful country with many areas growing tremendously with tourism and other industry was now falling into the hands of a dictator. I just want to say "WE ARE SO PROUD OF HONDURAS ." They are going forward legally with what they know to be best for their country and their people despite help or no help from outsiders. My prayer is that the U.S. will see through Zelaya's scheme and support Honduras 100% by withdrawing their support of Zelaya or any other communist dictator. Can someone please tell me why the U.S GOVERNMENT has cut AID to helping those who are truly in need because of a political feud . They have no fault in this but to defend their freedom right in Honduras . They chose to do so by standing behind congress and letting Zelaya go. I am afraid what is going on here is that other countries or should I say presidents of other countries are afraid that their people and their congress might just do the same to them if they don't shape up. The U.S should be ashamed of the man they put in charge to lead them when it comes to this situation. BOTTOM LINE, those poor people should not suffer by being denied the help of AMERICANS ! The Honduras congress acted in the best interest of the country to preserve the constitution and protect it's democracy. Merely repeating opinions frothed from the mouths of liberal journalists will only continue to cloud the truth. I suppose if Hitler had been deposed as he was planning the "Night of the Long Knives" there would have been those who would have jumped to his defense, but it would have saved millions of lives in Europe and prevented a World War. Not that Zelaya is a Hitler, but he is following Chavez' guide book on how to take over a nation. The Honduran people have endured three and a half years of his attempts to pull them into a Marxists state and saw this final attempt as a line in the sand. They acted decisively and should be honored, not demeaned. Zelaya ignored the advice of the OAS by attempting to return to Hondruas last Sunday. He agreed to a meeting today and then walked out, refusing at the last minute to meet with the opposition. He will have things his way or no way at all. That is why when he ignored Congress and the Supreme Court, they had no other course of action but to remove him. If he wanted to remain in Honduras he should not have trampled the Constitution. He should be grateful he was not put in front of a wall and shot as is ususally the case in Latin America. I witnessed that myself firsthand in Nicaragua and El Salvador. His solution to the problem is for all those involved to resign immediatly. That would mean all 15 memebers of the Supreme Court and all but 3 memebers of the Congress. Only a nutcase would even cosider such a proposition as being a legitimate resolution. Oh I forgot, we are talking about Zelaya. The man who has called on all school teachers to strike.
