Honduran citizens are prohibited from carrying weapons in an effort to control intimidation during election time. The Council of Ministers said the decree will come into force on Nov. 23rd.
Rafael Pineda Ponce, Minister of the Presidency, said any weapons carried by citizens “will be seized, registered, and later given back to their owners” after the elections.
The Board of Ministers also approved a decree for reservists of the Armed Forces to enforce security on the election day.
