Bomb Lab Found

November 28th, 2009 · No Comments

The state security intelligence of Honduras this morning dismantled a bomb-making lab in a colony of Comayaguela and captured one suspect.

The raid was made after tracking a group of people on Friday night who launched a device near Radio America radio station. Bomb experts with trained dogs and intelligence agents raided a home in the colony southwest of the capital of Honduras. This is a two-story house, of which the top floor was rented by a group of individuals. Inside the house, on the second floor, a small but complex laboratory was found in which they were making explosive devices.

Items found included fuses, dynamite, gloves, a manual for making bombs, another manual to repair and use RPG-7 rocket launchers, identity cards, lists of telephone numbers, a notebook with names of different personalities in the country and several sketches, including some which had recently been the target of explosions, such as the Freedom Tower building and Supreme Court. Also found were clothing of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front in El Salvador, and a flag of Venezuela.

Police are currently questioning the person detained, whose identity was not revealed, as he allegedly is cooperating and helping to give information about the organization and structure. He will be presented to the prosecution and appear in court to answer charges.
At present the authorities are searching for more people involved in this cell.

In recent weeks, groups of strangers have engaged in acts of terror and fear in order to prevent the Hondurans from participating in elections on November 29th.
