In Honduras, older adults were among the first to visit the polls in the very early hours on Sunday. Such was the case for Ms. Esperanza Moncada Alvarez, age 80. The octogenarian said she has never missed an opportunity to exercise her vote, and has been a tireless campaigner for the National Party.
Meanwhile, in the United States of America, Hondurans exhibited excitement and joy at the polls, despite waiting in long lines to cast their vote. Many in the Big Apple participated in the democratic electoral process despite temperatures of 45 degrees. It is expected that about 20 thousand Hondurans living in the United States will vote in today’s election.
