Armed Forces Dispatched to Las Manos Border

In the Department of El Paraíso, Honduras, soldiers yesterday afternoon overtook the Las Manos Border Customs office between the countries of Honduras and Nicaragua.

An unusual pattern of groups and items were noted entering Honduras, a red flag to Customs agents that a closer look was necessary. The armed forces, in conjunction with agents in the fight against drug trafficking, as well as three narcotics dogs arrived to inspect persons and luggage passing through the area.

No drugs were found by authorities.

Approximately 50 uniformed soldiers will remain at Customs at the Las Manos border for eight days for graduate practical training of the canines by the armed forces.
