The incident took place Tuesday night at about 8:00 pm, on the main street in the District of Morazán, in front of the police station, where the young woman had just emerged from a gym.

The daughter of the former President of Honduras, Roberto Micheletti Bain suffered an attempted kidnapping.

According to witnesses, the young lady was in a Nissan Frontier, champagne colored, along with her driver and bodyguard, when a white Honda pickup truck pulled up in front of them and several subjects got out and approached the vehicle, attempting to take the girl.

To the bodyguard managed to pull out his gun upon seeing their intentions, and began firing upon the perpetrators, seriously injuring one.

The automobile received eight bullets to the windshield, but neither Miss Micheletti Girón, nor her bodyguards were injured. According to the police, the attacker who was wounded is only 17 years old, and was transferred in a taxi to the Hospital School.

Police did not reveal the name of the detainee, as they are underage. Commissioner Héctor Iván Mejía, director of the preventive police, said that they are investigating to determine if indeed the incident was an attempted abduction.
