Deported Hondurans Return Home Today

Eighty-two Hondurans being deported from the United States will be flying into the country at 2:00 p.m. today, according to the non-governmental Center for Attention to Returning Migrants [Centro de Atención al Migrante Retornado (CAMR)].

The Director of the CAMR, Valdette Willeman, is heading from Tegucigalpa to the city of San Pedro Sula to receive the deportees.

Approximately 36,000 Hondurans have been deported by the Government of the United States since the beginning of 2011, up from the 22,520 Honduran citizens deported from the United States in 2010. Willeman added that on Wednesday they expect the arrival of two more flights of deportees – one to Tegucigalpa, and one to San Pedro Sula.
