Families evacuated in Tegucigalpa and Comayagua

Hundreds of families from center and north of Honduras where evacuated early Tuesday due to the floods caused by the heavy rains affecting the country.

In Tegucigalpa and Comayaguela, a controlled discharge from the Concepcion dam that supplies potable water to a sector of the capital, caused a considerable increase on the Grande and Choluteca River with floods in several low areas around the city.

The fire department started to alert the population Tegucigalpa and Comayaguela at around 2:00 am because of the swell of the river, several houses in these areas where flooded.

Most people that where evacuated at dawn, returned to their homes after the swell of the rivers decreased, some of the families have been warned by the mayor of Tegucigalpa to move from these low areas because their situation is of high risk.

The regional emergency committees started working with the fire department and COPECO to help the victims.
