Honduran Fruit Business Picking Up

A delegation of 30 Dutch businessmen plan to arrive in Honduras the first week of September to establish business ties with Honduran domestic producers.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Juan Carlos Ordóñez, met with the consul of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Florentius Kluck, wherein they finalized details of the visit.

The horticultural production in the Netherlands and other European countries does not currently cover all the demand for fruits and vegetables. Holland is therefore seeking new markets from which to import these agricultural products.

Several Honduran companies have already sent their products to the area, without any rejection by importers and consumers. This represents a positive precedent for establishing new business with the old continent, according to Vice Minister Ordóñez.

Honduran fruits and vegetables could reach 17 million consumers in the Netherlands.
