Honduran Tax Amnesty: Last Day to Pay

Authorities of the Executive Directorate of Revenue (DEI) expect to have collected revenue in the range of 500 million Lempiras from the granting of a tax amnesty which ends today.

September 30, 2010 is the deadline for taxpayers to obtain the legal benefit of the tax amnesty.

Suyapa Mendoza, head of the Department of Collections and Regulations of the DEI, encouraged taxpayers to catch up with their outstanding debt to the tax department, and cancel it out at any bank branch in the country. She reminds everyone that has not paid their taxes from 2005 to date, that if they do so during the amnesty, they are relieved of fines, penalties and interest. However; if they wait until the first of October, they will additionally have to cancel out their sales taxes, net assets or imposed fines, penalties and interest.
