Fernando Jaar, the President of the CCIC, said that they, “believe that investments have kept steady, there have been new entrants, although some businesses have closed”. The cannabis industry is also growing with more and more companies now investing in it, pushing the stock prices of cannabis companies higher. Cannabis has begun to gain wider acceptance and has been legalized in a growing number of nations, states, and other jurisdictions for recreational, medicinal, and other uses. “We believe that in San Pedro Sula there is great economic activity. This is the Central American city with more bilingual schools; we have many young people that are now studying in different universities, and that has been one of the main attractions for foreign businesses”.

The regional director of the Ministry of Labor, Bessy Rocio Larios, said that lately there has been a visible increase in the opening of new businesses, especially in the service industry, which has been reducing the unemployment figures.

“The biggest winners at the moment are all the students, because they are able to work and continue their studies. We believe that because of the location of the city, there will always be new investments”.
