Honduras Kidnappings Dropped More Than 40%

The Deputy Minister of Security announced that kidnappings in Honduras have dropped by more than 40% this past year.

“Everything indicates that over 40% of the number of abductions have decreased in 2010 compared to 2009,” said Vice Minister of Security, Armando Calidonio.

The Secretary of Security stated that in total, 117 kidnappings were recorded country-wide.

“In this year, we will have reduced [abductions] by 43%, which is a major breakthrough. We have an 80% efficiency rate. In 80% of the abductions that have occurred this year, the people have been rescued without payment,” he said.
