The workshop also aims at improving the Food Safety Assurance System.

This week, the authorities of the SAG and the Federation of Agricultural Exporters of Honduras (FPX) received a technical mission from the Agriculture and Livestock Service (SAG) of the Republic of Chile and from the United States Department of Agriculture.

“Relations will improve thanks to the cooperation between Chile and the United States. Hopefully this will help strengthen Honduran exports and the quality and safety of the fruits and vegetables the country ships,” the authorities of the SAG stated.

Jacobo Paz Bodden, head of SAG, said it was important for the country to implement a system that would allow increasing exports. “We are meeting with the representatives of Chile, the USDA, the Chilean Exporters Association (Asoex), the FPX, and the Federation of Farmers and Ranchers of Honduras (Fenagh) to determine a route to follow,” he said.

“The mission will meet with the technical staff of the National Agricultural Health Service and with representatives of the cucumber, squash, sweet potatoes, colored chillies, and oriental vegetables guilds in Comayagua,” said Paz.
