Honduras to Receive Aid Once More

The World Bank announced today that will be sending development aid to Honduras that it was stopped after the political crisis began at the end of June.

World Bank Managing Director, Juan Jose Daboub, held a news conference in Tegucigalpa and said that the bank would restore one planned loan of $270 million and add $120 million in new credit, for a total of $390 million for Honduras, following the inauguration of President Pepe Lobo.

Last year, aid agencies and donor nations took part in an international aid freeze that amounted to $450 million after the events took place that ousted Manual Zelaya. Last month, the United States hinted they may restart aid, as other nations have begun to accept the new Honduran government.

“For the World Bank, it is important to say that we are here to continue supporting the Honduran people … especially the most vulnerable in society,” said Daboub.

Honduras had received about $1 billion a year in foreign loans, humanitarian aid, and subsidized Venezuelan fuel before the end of June, representing around 20 percent of the Honduran national budget.

To show you how bad it has gotten….

In the USA the current debt (Not future obligations) stands at a whopping $330,000 for EVERY man, woman and Child in the USA.

The Honduran debt currently stands at $2,500,000,000 (47,500,000,000L), that is 6,786L for every man woman and Child in Honduras.

Yes, not nearly as bad as the USA, but come on people, when are we going to stop going further and further into debt.

When are we going to stop having to pay interest on that debt that our country can NOT afford??

    Great!!!!

more debt for Hondruas. or let me state that another way….. more debt for the Honduran people!!!!

our world is drowning in debt!!!! we as a country and the whole world MUST learn to live within our means, meaning NO MORE DEBT.

I for one took this stand two years ago for our family, and have been paying down our debt substantually every month. In less than a year we will be debt free.

In our families we have to learn to live within our means, why should our Governments be allowed to spead beyond what their income is??

The correct answer is; they should NOT be allowed to do so!!!

Every Government should and MUST adopt a “balanced budget” approach to running their countries, just as we have to within our families!!!
