In a televised forum,  the presidential designee stated that HONDUTEL, “is in a very critical situation that directly affects the state’s fiscal deficit and monetary injections required to continue operating.”

She stated that the Government therefore decided to extend the term of the oversight board to execute the rescue plan that they themselves have designed, and which outlines that in June and July, HONDUTEL must sell some assets such as land and buildings that they are not using.

There are other measures, such as the voluntary departure of thousands of employees, in order to find “the balance point” to prevent further losses at the end of this year, so that its economic situation is more appealing to a possible partner for the enterprise.

The official indicated that HONDUTEL is looking to improve the finances of the company in order to find investors who want to partner with the State of Honduras.
