IMF Funds Sent to Honduras

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) sent $150 million to Honduras on August 28th, 2009, according to the Central Bank President, Sandra Midence. She added that IMF plans to grant another $13.8 million in aid in a few weeks, despite objections from the international community.

The organization has disregarded calls by various governments and international organizations attempting to ban aid to Honduras due to the unpopular current government.

The Central American Integration Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the World Bank have called for no support to reach Honduras until the former president is reinstated.
