Kidnapped Professor Rescued by Police

According to police, a university professor was kidnapped in Colonia Los Llanos, east of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, by gunmen driving a white sedan-type vehicle.

A citizen saw the abduction take place, and immediately notified the police. From the moment they received the anonymous call, agents were dispatched to the neighborhoods of of Los Llanos, La Joya and San Isidro in Tegucigalpa.

The criminals were located in San Isidro, and after facing gunfire with law enforcement officers, abandoned their vehicle and took the professor, preliminarily identified as Rodolfo Núñez Núñez, with them.

In response to police action, the criminals entered a house in San Isidro, which was then besieged by the military. The teacher was freed, and several kidnapping suspects have been arrested.
