National Front Assembly

The National Front against the coup d’état is holding its first national assembly today to discuss strategies to further their cause. Groups from each department in Honduras are participating.

The Front is mainly comprised of union workers, rural residents, students, and womens organizations. It was created just a few hours after former president Manuel Zelaya was exiled on June 28th, 2009.

The goals of the Front are to restore constitutional order, achieve the unconditional return of President Manuel Zelaya, and demand a constitutional assembly, according to the Front’s general coordinator, Juan Barahona.

Topics of discussion are expected to be varied, with a concentration on the November 29th elections in Honduras.

    Right on tripletango!

GG if Zelaya had his way there would not be 6 wealthy families. There would only be 1. The poor would be poorer. Everyone in the middle that works would be poorer. Now I am convinced that you are either Rixi or Patricia.

Reading all this stuff makes me worry my mom in law is married to a man from honduras and they go every year for the holidays over there from the U.S.. Do I need to worry about her is it safe? Or are there any political wars going on?

Tripletango’s observations are very good. he has a good understanding of the situation. I am very interested in what he has to say. in my view his observations add to the discussion. If you read what he says you will have a better understanding of the current situation.

How many people in this chat area have looked at the total direction being pushed by the far leftist individuals and organizations throughout South, Central and North America. Have you thought of what that power structure is looking like more and more each day. Some way this must be stopped. Since the US no longer has the power of the gut to set the standard and determine the control of democracy, we are all heading toward socialism and eventually Communistic Political Control. Looks to me like the shoe stomping learer of USSR has more for us yet to come.

  6. Robert  September 8, 2009 at 10:10 am

The US as well as Hondura is in a fight to protect its Constitution.Hondura’s enemy is the same as yours.Clinton,Peosi,Reed and Obama. They are in fear that if you succeed as a free country by evicting your cancer the American people will rise up and do the same.

  7. randall  September 8, 2009 at 9:42 am

To the people of honduras i say i am so disappointed in my country, the us , not suporting your constitution. I have watched developments in honduras carefully and am proud of your people for standing up to these socialist thugs. If they ever get a grip on your military it would all be over. Thank God for your determined congress, supreme court and your military as well as the brave people of your country who support these institutions.

  8. Kemosabe  September 8, 2009 at 9:23 am

Hang tough Hondurans! Many here in the U.S.A. support your stand for your Constitution. Never fear doing what is right. Hopefully the Obama administration will get it right and support you free elections in November. Right now he still has his finger in the air testing the sind direction. So far we have at least one Senator willing to support you.

Over and over again, GG, you show you unwillingness to see the truth from all angles, remember how Chavez got to stay, he blatantly told the world (it was on TV). He said the votes would be counted by his people only

  10. Hondo  September 8, 2009 at 5:09 am

Guadalupe you finally got something right only 6 families control 90% of the wealthy in Honduras and one of those families is Zelaya family. Also in the USA only 6% of the Wealthy own everything, then there is about 45% of the middle Class that Pay for everything including the taxes for the wealthy and poor. So that give the US with about 49% of the population being are you call poor.

I have a suggestion for you why don’t you leave your wealthy Dallas home to the poor in Honduras. By the way if you are ever in Honduras please come and visit me on the bay Island so I can show you your Drugs plane that crashed on my Island while the Drug Lord Zelaya was still in change, this too you say never happened, so where did the plane full of Cocaine come from SPACE….

GG believes in fair elections, but only one. If ever GG has that fair election, with votes paid for by Hugo Chavez and fueled with promises of stealing form the rich it will be the last election. Then GG and the other friends of Chavezismo will suck Honduras dry. GG will never admitt that it is the oil of Venzeuela that allows Chavez to throw his wild party. When the oil is gone there will be a big hangover. Honduras is poor. The party will be shorter, but the hangover will be fatal.
    Honduran’s, choose wisely your friends!

    Viva la Constitucion!
    Viva Honduras!

  12. honduras94@aol.com  September 7, 2009 at 10:57 pm

As a matter of fact Chavez threw the OAS out of his country before one of his elections. He is a dictator. All of GG comments sound the same.
Never backed up with and solid evidence.
It has been three months and the resistance does not have any momentum or growth. Now they are plotting how to mess up the elections so the intl world sees them as not free, fair and transparent.
Why would you want a new constitution which if you follow the ALBA playbook will eliminate checks and balances. The resistance makes no sense. They wan the unconditional return of Mel Zelaya. They also want Micheletti to sign the San Jose Accords that will bring Zelaya back with a ton of conditions. They are the same people that are peacefull resistors until they decide they need to use violence.

  13. Rob  September 7, 2009 at 9:12 pm

hey GG, Saddam Hussein was “elected” multiple times !!! You gonna tell me he wasnt a dictator??

  14. Ethel  September 7, 2009 at 4:20 pm

Who wrote this srticle needs to do his homework , investigate instead of writing things that you don’t know . Honduras has its constitutions you know laws to follow to respect and thanks God for the Supreme court and the Congress in that little poor countrya and thats the problen because it is a small country everybody wants to dictate orders. This was not a coup Honduras is defending its democracy WELL DONE !!!!!

  15. Richard  September 7, 2009 at 3:22 pm

GG please respond to your statement:

“when a man is elected multiple times by a majority – that does not make him a “dictator”. ”

Has the country had true free and fair elections? Has everyone freely walked in and voted without harrasment or fear? Finally, has any outside, non-bias (the key here is non-bias) agency or organization overseen the past elections?

There is a proverb very rearly spoken in politics:

    “Absolute power corrupts Absolutely.”

We are seeing that right before our eyes.

  16. Miraclemant  September 7, 2009 at 1:44 pm

GG how much is Chavez paying you to write your naive rantings???

  17. brick bay boy  September 7, 2009 at 12:50 pm

Let’s also use the dictionary and learn the meanings of naive & gullible. One is a dictator when they manipulate their countries constitution to stay in power. You may remember that there has been more than one doubt about the fairness of the elections. remember the Castro brothers have been “elected” for more than 50 years. Stop being blind and repeating the garbage that these morons are spuing.

  18. Guadalupe Gomez  September 7, 2009 at 10:50 am

brick bay boy, when a man is elected multiple times by a majority – that does not make him a “dictator”. Please find a dictionary or quit spreading disinformation.

  19. brick bay boy  September 7, 2009 at 10:35 am

Ok Guadalupe Gomez now I am certain you are NUTS. To call the oil rich dictator Chavez a great man is just too much

  20. John  September 7, 2009 at 9:50 am

Zelaya was removed by the constitutional government. Who wrote this article?

  21. Guadalupe Gomez  September 7, 2009 at 9:27 am

In the Honduras, only 6 families control 90% of the wealth and power. They are too greedy. They value material wealth above everything else. They think it shows that they are smarter than and superior to, the poor. They do not love the people. In Honduras 65 to 70% of the people live in poverty.

It’s a situation similar to this: there is plenty of food, but unfortunately, there are a few horribly fat and greedy people and millions of hungry people who are mercilessly exploited by the fat and greedy ones.

Those who frequent this web site support the fat and greedy ones. You are on the side of those who think that they are superior, and that most of the people should be treated like donkeys.

To hell with oligarchy and to hell with political leaders who don’t love the people. We pity them. They do not deserve to have power over other human beings. They ill be punished for this coup. Their days in power are ending, whether they like it or not.

The times have changed and they will most certainly lose their foolish battle against truth, justice and the people.

You people who hold hatred for other people, including great men like Hugo Chavez – poison your souls. Your hatred of him, and your contempt for the truth and the people, puts you squarely on the side of the devil, and you cannot win. As was prophesied, those who have been last will later be first. ‘Later’ is just around the bend.

  25. Cindy  September 7, 2009 at 12:00 am

Let the people of Honduras prevail in their rights to protect and preserve democracy and their Constitution. The world particularly the United States needs to respect the voices of the majority of the people of Honduras.

  26. Raulito  September 6, 2009 at 10:54 pm

Hondurans take notice not one word of encouragement or praise from any of these so call Honduran persons like Guadaloupe G or Marvin Z or Carlito G about our Futbol boys 4-1 victory Their only interest is KING zelaya and his quest for Power and the destruction of those who call him to give account for is criminal behavior and to seek Revenge against those who oppose their way of thinking. Remember this is also what Insulza & Clinton are pushing on Honduras. Their not interest in Honduras or Hondurans as a matter of Fact their international image comes first.

  27. Al  September 6, 2009 at 6:20 pm

I wonder how many of these people making up this front are being paid by Chavez and his puppets.

  28. Mirachi  September 6, 2009 at 5:27 pm

We now see exactly who Zelaya and his gang choose to imitate his role models EL Trafficante NFA stands for National Fools Association and we should also pay them NO Further Attention Whats up GG holla back girl!

  29. Miraclemant  September 6, 2009 at 4:21 pm

    restore Constitutional order??

Maybe the first thing they should do… is to read thier own Constitution!

Because of the political instability of the 1970’s, The Honduran Constitution has several articles that specifically limit the term of Presidency to only one term.

furthermore, the Constitution goes on to state that if ANY President even voices that he wants to change the Constitution to allow himself to stay even a 2nd term, he automatically forfeits his Presidency, and is to be removed from power. gee…. does this sound like what happened to Zelaya??

I hope Zelaya is stupid enough to come back to Honduras, we have 18 arrest warrants waiting for him and a nice dirty jail cell.
