Oldest Honduran Dies at 113 Years of Age

113 Year Old Honduran Dies

Representative Brenda Flores, chairman of the National Congress’s Committee for the Elderly, reacted with dismay at the news of the death of Doña Cresencia Vallecillo, who, at 113 year of age, was the oldest person in Honduras.

Mrs. Vallecillo Cresencia died last week in San Nicolás, Santa Bárbara, her hometown since October 29, 1899. She is survived by seven children, 52 grandchildren, 196 great-grandchildren and 108 great-great-grandchildren.

“I deeply regret the death of Mrs. Cresencia Vallecillo, whom I had the great blessing of knowing; and to grant, on behalf of Juan Orlando Hernandez and all my fellow members in Congress, the title of the Eldest in Honduras,” said Congressperson Flores.

“It was the first time that such recognition was granted in the history of Honduras by the Committee for the Elderly, over which I am honored to preside,” Representative Flores added.
