Zelaya Leaves Liberal Party

Ex-President of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya officially announced that he is ending his 30-year affiliation with the Liberal Party.

Zelaya believes there will never be justice in Honduras regarding the coup, and called for the reform of Honduras’s two-party system, made up of the Liberal and National parties.

Zelaya founded the Partido Libertad y Refundación (Liberty and Refounding Party) shortly after his return to Honduras.

Honduras – Nicaragua Border Has Hope

Ignacia Matute looks back nostalgically on the days when the hills around her home in northwestern Nicaragua were blanketed in green, and she woke every morning to the sounds of birds singing in the treetops and the rushing waters of the nearly Coco River.

Her present day surroundings are a far cry from this idyllic memory: the river is severely depleted and its waters are dangerously polluted along some stretches of its original course, while the forests have been decimated by fires and years of indiscriminate logging to supply furniture manufacturers and provide firewood for local homes.

Jorge Claros Signs with Scotland

Rangers target Jorge Claros has joined Hibernian on a year-long deal from his Honduran club Motagua.

The 26-year-old midfielder had impressed Ibrox manager Ally McCoist while on trial but no deal was done.

The player told the Hibs website: “I am happy to be here. I have been treated very well since I arrived in Edinburgh.
