Peru textile executives exploring Honduras Manufacturing facilities

Honduras-Textile-ManufacturerHonduran Ambassador to Peru Humberto Lopez Villamil recently met with several representatives of Peruvian business sectors, with the aim of arranging an exploratory visit of Peruvian textile entrepreneurs to the manufacturing industries operating in the Free Trade Zones (FTZs) of the Central American country of Honduras, known as Maquila, which includes textiles and clothing industries also.
According to a statement issued by the Honduran Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Honduran Ambassador along with head of the Consul Affairs of Honduran Foreign Ministry Tania Padilla Young met with representatives and senior executives of the Peruvian National Society of Industries (SNI), National Confederation of Private Business Institutions (CONFIEP), Peruvian Exporters Association (ADEX), Chamber of Commerce of Lima (CCL) and the Peruvian Chamber of Franchises.

During the meeting, the Ambassador addressed issues regarding investments and signing agreements as well as the forthcoming resumption of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations between Honduras and Peru.

The meeting was aimed at giving continuity to dialogue between the two countries for increasing trade and investments, following the Honduran Business Mission to the Peruvian capital city of Lima, which was led by Honduran Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Melvin Redondo, earlier this month.

At the meeting with the Peruvian representatives, the Honduran Ambassador explained that during the coming days he would be stating the matters and strategies that were discussed during meeting with the Honduran Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economic Development, to expedite the exploratory visit of Peruvian entrepreneurs to the Honduran Maquila to provide an opportunity to understand the Honduran production process.

Earlier this month, Honduran Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Melvin Redondo led a business mission to the Peruvian city of Lima, and met with Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru, Edgar Vasquez Vela, with the aim of finalizing a date for the resumption of negotiations of the FTA between the two countries.
