Reporter Pleads "Not Guilty"

Television reporter Peter de Vries has pleaded not guilty in an Australian court to disobeying a police order to stay away from an international crime suspect, news agency AP reports.

De Vries and a colleague were arrested last week after visiting a property in Perth despite being told by police to stay away.

De Vries said he was trying to deliver a letter to a man he suspects of involvement in the death of Dutch woman Mariska Mast while on holiday in Honduras in 2008.

Drug Traffickers Busted in Honduras

500 kilos of cocaine was found in a dump truck driving in Choloma that had avoided police checkpoints. There were five suspects inside, all armed with pistols. The police arrested the five men and seized the cocaine, according to Deputy Security Minister Armando Calidonio. Officers also found two M-16 assault rifles in the dump truck, Calidonio said.

A small plane had landed and dropped a load of cocaine on Sunday near Choloma, he added. Investigators suspect that the plane came from South America, but investigators were trying to determine exactly where the plane came from, and why it landed near Choloma.

Police Rescue Kidnapped Doctor

Doctor Arcadia Isabel Díaz Martínez, was rescued this morning by members of the Anti-Kidnapping Task Force (Geasa) of the National Police. The doctor was kidnapped on Tuesday, and was being held in a house in the Villa Cristina, near Campo Cielo, south of the capital. The operation was coordinated by Security Minister Oscar Alvarez.

Dr. Díaz Martínez had spent the week sleeping on the floor of a bathroom in a very humble home, but told the national press that her kidnappers respected her physical integrity, and even bought her medications, which she needed daily.
