Jorge Claros Signs with Scotland

Rangers target Jorge Claros has joined Hibernian on a year-long deal from his Honduran club Motagua.

The 26-year-old midfielder had impressed Ibrox manager Ally McCoist while on trial but no deal was done.

Costa Concordia Honduran Employees Returning Soon

The first of seventeen Hondurans shipwrecked almost one week ago off the coast of Giglio, Italy, has returned to Honduras. Rolando Argueta had been working aboard the cruise ship Costa Concordia, and was greeted last night with hugs and tears by his mother, Delia Melgar. Argueta expressed that the tragedy was, “like the film the Titanic”. Despite the experience, Rolando Argueta intends to return to service with the cruiseline, “I will return if they engage me, because my family depends on the support from my work.”

Another Honduran aboard the Costa Concordia ship, German Martínez Urbina, who is expected to return Saturday, said he was happy for his education from the Honduran Merchant Navy. He outlined how they were trained to respond in cases of an emergency. “We practiced at the work of rescue and evacuations. We were responsible for lowering the boats, doing the exercises, and putting them [people] safely on the ground.”

UNAH to Offer New Degrees

The Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (UNAH) has announced new opportunities for students in 2012: The offering of courses leading to a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, and Technician for Coffee Quality.

The Council of Higher Education, at the end of 2011, outlined the Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology would be issued through the faculty of social sciences, a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition from the faculty of medical sciences, and Technician for Coffee Quality from the faculty of Engineering.

The academic Vice-Rector, Rutilius Calderón expressed that
“this educational offering is creating and putting to work everything that is the new educational model of the UNAH, which means a more dynamic, interactive process in line with higher education in the 21st century”.

He acknowledged that the university has already planned the incorporation of new teachers to teach the classes, and at the same time, said that they will be professionals, with the skills and training required for these careers. Approximately 150 students are estimated to begin the new courses this year.
