This morning in Tegucigalpa, business, political and military persons came to the funeral home La Auxiliadora de Suyapa (The Help of Suyapa) to meet with relatives and friends of the Goldstein’s before Mark Goldstein’s remains were transferred to San Pedro Sula, where he would ultimately be buried.
Among those attending Congressman Goldstein’s funeral services in the capital were: Elvin Santos, father and son; Oscar, Eduardo and Jesus Kafaty; Robert Vinelli and family; Congresspersons Marlon and Wenceslao Lara; The Vice President of Congress, Ramon Velasquez Nazar; Oswaldo Ramos Soto; the Chancellor of the Republic, Mario Canahuati; Gabriela Nunez; and the Mayor of Tegucigalpa and National Party President, Ricardo Alvarez.

The former manager of Hondutel, Marcelo Chimirri, is expected to hear his sentence announced in the courts today.
Chimirri was charged by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor of the crime of abuse of authority and found guilty, but acquitted on charges of fraud. The trial court set the hearing for sentencing today. The Criminal Code outlines that for the crime of abuse of authority, one would serve from three to six years imprisonment; it is expected that the prosecution would seek the maximum.

Congress today discussed the general amnesty project, and reviewed the draft of a decree for general amnesty for political crimes for all persons who participated in the events taking place on June 28, 2009.
The draft decree contains a political pardon for former President Manuel Zelaya Rosales, the people who participated in the resistance, and others involved who have been accused of political crimes. The crimes that have been outlined are those relating to the change of government and sedition, among others.
President-elect Porfirio Lobo Sosa wants the decree passed so he can start a new period of government and national reconciliation.

The president-elect, Porfirio Lobo Sosa, announced this afternoon the cabinet that will accompany him in the next administration.
The former presidential candidate of the Christian Democratic Party (PDCH), Felicito Avila, will be the new Minister of Labor, and another former presidential candidate, Cesar Ham, will be in charge of the National Agrarian Institute.
The positions announced are:
Minister of Labor: Felicito Avila
Minister of Health: Arturo Bendana
Minister of Culture: Bernard Martinez
Minister of Soptravi: Miguel Pastor
Minister of Security: Oscar Alvarez
Minister of Education: Alejandro Ventura
Minister of the Presidency: Bogran Marie Antoinette
Minister of Industry and Commerce: Oscar Escalante
Minister of Agriculture: Caesar Ham
Minister of the Interior: Africo Madrid
Foreign Minister: Mario Canahuati
