David Meza, a 51-year-old radio and television journalist, was shot in his car late Thursday as he tried to escape his attackers. He was only meters from his house in La Ceiba.
Meza is known for his work with broadcasters such as El Patio, Ceiba Vision, Abriendo Brecha and Radio America.
Meza was shot 12 times, but the motive for the killing was unknown. His family said he had received no threats before the shooting.

Today, Fitch Ratings has affirmed the ratings of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) as follows:
-Long-term foreign currency Issuer Default Rating (IDR) at ‘A-’;
-Short-term IDR at ‘F2′;
-USD500 million medium-term note due 2014 at ‘A-’.
The Rating Outlook is Stable.
CABEI is a Central American multilateral development bank (MDB) based in Honduras. Honduras has publicly stated their commitment with CABEI, cleared the aforementioned loan arrears, and started the discussion to reinstate the ability of CABEI to accept deposits from Honduran banks; paving the way to come back to normal business relations with the sub regional MDB. The Fire Department reported four large-scale forest fires in Tegucigalpa today.
Department spokesperson, Oscar Triminio, said the first fire was located in the area of El Hatillo at 10 am. At last count, the fire consumed about 10 hectares, and the flames have reached the outskirts of Canaan, La Cumbre, and the colony of Villa Delmi. Firefighter Triminio said they used over 80,000 gallons of water which was taken from the water for El Hatillo.

This morning in Tegucigalpa, business, political and military persons came to the funeral home La Auxiliadora de Suyapa (The Help of Suyapa) to meet with relatives and friends of the Goldstein’s before Mark Goldstein’s remains were transferred to San Pedro Sula, where he would ultimately be buried.
Among those attending Congressman Goldstein’s funeral services in the capital were: Elvin Santos, father and son; Oscar, Eduardo and Jesus Kafaty; Robert Vinelli and family; Congresspersons Marlon and Wenceslao Lara; The Vice President of Congress, Ramon Velasquez Nazar; Oswaldo Ramos Soto; the Chancellor of the Republic, Mario Canahuati; Gabriela Nunez; and the Mayor of Tegucigalpa and National Party President, Ricardo Alvarez.
