This morning in Tegucigalpa, business, political and military persons came to the funeral home La Auxiliadora de Suyapa (The Help of Suyapa) to meet with relatives and friends of the Goldstein’s before Mark Goldstein’s remains were transferred to San Pedro Sula, where he would ultimately be buried.
Among those attending Congressman Goldstein’s funeral services in the capital were: Elvin Santos, father and son; Oscar, Eduardo and Jesus Kafaty; Robert Vinelli and family; Congresspersons Marlon and Wenceslao Lara; The Vice President of Congress, Ramon Velasquez Nazar; Oswaldo Ramos Soto; the Chancellor of the Republic, Mario Canahuati; Gabriela Nunez; and the Mayor of Tegucigalpa and National Party President, Ricardo Alvarez.

San Pedro Sula Congressman, Mark Goldstein and his fiancee, Margie Gonzalez, died in an airplane crash this afternoon. The small aircraft carried the pilot, Luis Lopez, Mr. Goldstein, and his companion There were no survivors.
Mr. Goldstein had just been sworn in as a diputado and attended a special tribute in Congress for his father, Gilberto Goldstein. His father was being honored for his years of service, and said his son was a younger version of himself.

An earthquake rattled the Honduran-Guatemalan border yesterday. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
The tremor, measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale, struck 260 km north of the Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa at 5:40 p.m. (2340 GMT), said Francisco Moncada, an official with the Bureau of Disaster Monitoring.
The quake was widely felt in Honduras’ western areas and northern Caribbean cities but no immediate reports of property damage or casualties have been made, he said.

The Municipal Police of San Pedro Sula seized more than a million Lempiras in gunpowder throughout various areas of the city today.
The explosives are due to be destroyed on January 7th at the municipal crematorium.
The operation was conducted with the collaboration of the National Preventive Police and the authorities of Environmental Protection.
The seizure was conducted “in strict compliance with Article 163 of the tax plan, which prohibits the distribution and marketing of powder storage” Rivera, the of Mayor San Pedro Sula said.
