Tito Mejia to Present December 2nd

The former defense minister and former vice commissioner, Aristides Mejia Carranza, is scheduled to begin to answer for his part in crimes linked to corruption which the prosecution alleges he was involved in.

The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor has accused “Tito” Mejia, Rixi Moncada and Rebeca Santos of being responsible for committing crimes of fraud and abuse of authority, to the detriment of their public administration. They are accused of authorizing two suspicious contracts for 30 million lempiras annually, for rental of the ENEE building. Mejia led the ENEE Board of Directors who authorized the costly rental of the building.

The Criminal Court Prosecutor issued both national and international arrest warrants against the three suspects.

Judge Mario Rios said a brief was filed in defense of Mejia, asking allowance for his voluntary submission. The Court acceded to the request, and asked that he present himself after the general election. The judge stated that “Tito” Mejia will submit voluntarily to the court on December 2nd, at 9:00 a.m. when a date will be set for his hearing.

At such hearing, the judge will notify the former employee about the order brought against him, ask if he wishes to make a statement, set the initial hearing date, and will impose interim measures, such as bail or imprisonment.

Although voluntary submission was granted, the arrest warrant for Mejia will continue to be in force until the hearing is held.

I hope he declares in front of some of the same people who will be pondering Zelaya’s future.

And again, I reiterate, the Constitution has not changed, there is no question that Zelaya should not be reinstated, the punishment for the crime of breaking article # 239 still is pending, depossing him was not all of it, he was reluctant to remove himself from office, which according to the same article (# 239) makes him a traitor to the country.

And what of all this other terrible things that he has done recently, calling for death, chaos and destruction as if he was talking about an enemy of Honduras, or as an enemy himself?
