Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) William R. Brownfield visits Honduras to reiterate the U.S. partnership with Honduras to counter regional threats posed by organized crime and illicit trafficking, while stressing the continued need for citizen security safeguards and respect for human rights and meet with newly-elected President Juan Orlando Hernandez

In Honduras, Assistant Secretary Brownfield will be accompanied by U.S. Southern Command Commander Gen. John F. Kelly in meetings with newly-elected President Juan Orlando Hernandez and members of his Administration. He will also meet with members of the NGO community. Assistant Secretary Brownfield will reiterate the U.S. partnership with Honduras to counter regional threats posed by organized crime and illicit trafficking, while stressing the continued need for citizen security safeguards and respect for human rights.

Assistant Secretary Brownfield last traveled to Central America in June 2013, when he accompanied Secretary Kerry to the Organization of American States General Assembly in Antigua, Guatemala.
