16th Journalist Killed in Honduras

Medardo Flores, a 50 year old reporter who worked for Radio Uno, was the victim of an ambush on Thursday. He was killed when his car was sprayed with bullets. Mr. Flores was driving from his farm to Puerto Cortes.

Sixteen journalists have been killed in Honduras since February of 2010.

The director of Radio Uno, Arnulfo Aguilar, stated that Flores spent the 1980’s in exile “to escape from persecution by the repressive forces of the state”. Medardo Flores was an avid Zelaya supporter.
