34 Flu Cases in Honduras

Carlos Aguilar has announced that, “There have been 32 new confirmed cases, which are added to the other two previously detected.” Most of the patients recovered and no one is hospitalized. Aguilar said that the country has more than 20,000 courses of antiviral treatment in stockpile.

Honduras has been diligent in keeping the public aware of the virus, and has implemented strict quarantine control at its borders. All airline passengers are screened upon arrival.

The confirmed flu patients in Honduras are between 15 and 35 years old, most of them living in the more northern areas of the country, such as San Pedro Sula in Cortes department.

The first confirmed flu case took place on May 21st, in San Pedro Sula. The patient was a nine-year-old girl. The second case was confirmed on May 28th, a 35-year-old patient who arrived in Tegucigalpa from Florida, in the United States.
