The police sub-commissioner, Héctor Iván Mejía announced that a joint army and police operation was conducted in La Moskitia, the northeastern jungle of Honduras.
An altercation with drug traffickers resulted in the criminals’ escape (by plane), but 400 kg of cocaine were seized. The drug had been wrapped in 15 bales and was confiscated after being unloaded from the light aircraft. The street value of that amount of cocaine is estimated to be worth roughly 14 million US Dollars.
The Honduran authorities also seized two vehicles in which the traffickers intended to transport the drugs.
