Barralaga served as a counsel of former manager of the Honduran Telecommunications Company, Hondutel, Marcelo Chimirri, died from a bullet wound inflicted by an individual who was traveling by motorcycle.

According to police reports, the lawyer of 47 years was driving in his vehicle at the time of the crime; his lifeless body was found inside the car. Barralaga’s body was taken to the morgue, and shortly thereafter, his family had him transferred to his hometown of Tocoa, Columbus, in northern Honduras.
