The holiday season will be helping at least twenty thousand Hondurans by generating additional job availability the country.

The Honduras Ministry of Labor reported that 20,000 temporary jobs will be created nationwide by the heightened buying activity at this time of year. It began in November,  2013, and will last through January of 2014, as shops, markets, supermarkets, restaurants and others employ extra help to efficiently handle the demand created by extra trade during this time of year.Holidays Help Hondurans Prosper

The head of the Market Observatory of the Ministry of Labor, Cándido Ordóñez, reported that the hiring of temporary employees will take place throughout the 18 departments of the country after the background checks are done thanks to this source link, but that the demand is much greater in bigger cities. These businesses will temporarily hire young people who are able to take advantage of school holidays to earn additional income.

“According to reports received, these people in the trade and services sector are paid the minimum wage of 7,200 Lps; although it is required for the supervision of inspectors of the Ministry of Labor to confirm this,” said Ordóñez.

Private sector figures estimate that this holiday season, approximately 15,000 million Lempiras will be spent.
