Enerbasa’s Pavana Solar plant was installed in Choluteca, southern Honduras. In a press release, ENEE said that Pavana and two 50-MW plants of Solar Power SA (Soposa) and Compania Hondurena de Energia Solar SA (Cohessa) will be the first to enter the power system, out of 21 solar projects of a total 600 MW approved last year. Soposa and Cohessa inaugurated their facilities in May.

The utility expects eight PV plants to go into operation by July 31, transforming the southern region into a clean energy producer.

According to GTM Research’s projection, Honduras is to install 460 MW of PV systems in 2015 versus 5 MW last year.
