Honduras’ First Swine Flu Death

A 23-year-old pregnant woman who lived in a rural area of western Honduras, died of the H1N1 flu (swine flu) earlier this June according to Health Minister, Carlos Aguilar. Authorities have only now confirmed that the cause was the H1N1 flu.

The World Health Organization has classified this flu as a pandemic.

Honduras has reported 118 cases of the swine flu, most of them in the northwestern San Pedro Sula area, the nation’s industrial capital.

The flu has arrived in numerous countries, killing 180 people and has infected approximately 45,000 people worldwide.
