Day of the Soldier – Francisco Morazan Day in Honduras

In an effort to help the tourism sector of the country, the government of Porfirio Lobo Sosa announced that the observance of the three official holidays in Honduras during the month of October 2012 have been officially moved to Mondays in order to provide the public with three day weekends.

Presidential Decree 42-2012 states that the Official observance of:

Wednesday October 3rd Day of the Soldier – Francisco Morazan Day will be observed on Monday October 8th

Friday 12th of October Day of the Americas will be observed on Monday the 15th of October

The Armed Forces Day in Honduras on October 21st will not be moved because it falls on a Sunday this year and only government employees with collective bargaining agreements in place will be allowed to “officially” take Monday the 22nd day off.

A call to all private industry leaders was made to request cooperation in changing their own schedules to match the Presidential decree in order to allow families to enjoy the long weekends and promote internal Tourism.
