The Secretary General of of the Executive Branch of the Government, Jorge Ramon Hernandez, confirmed that following a review of all current and future infrastructure programs including the construction and repairs of various roads and the construction of the new International Airport at the Palmerola Air Base currently shared with the US Southern Command Joint Task Force Bravo known also as “Soto Cano” that will replace the capital city of Tegucigalpa airport (Toncontin) are a major priority for 2016.
The Honduran National Congress has approved the investment of over ten million lempiras the approximate equivalent of $444,000 US Dollars to be used for productive infrastructure improvements and social inclusion.
He explained that the Executive Branch has committed to complete the Canal Seco “Dry Canal” project currently underway between Comayagua and Valle, make the new International Airport at Palmerola a reality and rehabilitate the road between Tegucigalpa and Jicaro Galan as a four lane highway.
The Secretary General of the Government also mentioned that $$154 million dollars has also been approved for the construction of the “Pacific Corridor” between El Amatillo and Guasaule. He also mentioned the road to the western region and the Agricultural Corridor as well as as completion of various other projects currently under way.
