Honduras Requests TPS Extension

A campaign to collect signatures for the extension of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) in the United States began today in Florida.

The initiative comes from the organization in Honduras, Francisco Morazan. The signatures collected will be sent to U.S. President, Barack Obama, Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton and Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, asking a new extension to the TPS, which expires on July 5th..

Francisco Portillo, President of the Honduran organization, said he made contact with several U.S. congressmen to lobby for the extension of the TPS, and ensures that the response has been positive.

The Honduran Foreign Ministry on Monday began the process of preparing to apply for the ninth extension of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to the United States.
