ENEE said it expects to receive $28m from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), while the remaining $132m would come from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). A delegation from the Honduran government is set to visit Japan to complete negotiations for the loan, which is expected to be signed in March.

Upgrades to the two hydro-power plants, Canaveral and Rio Lindo, would increase their combined generation capacity to 126 MW.
