La Ceiba Carnival 2012


A magical night, full of color and beauty prevailed in the city of La Ceiba with the crowning of Daphne Alexandra Illa, Queen of the Gran Carnival 2012.
On the stage at San Isidro Avenue Daphne took the title and was decorated with allegorical motifs of African culture by renowned designers Eduardo and Alberto de Castro Zablah. The party Saturday night was attended by dozens of La Ceiba Residents and tourists.

The procession was formed by Juan Carlos Hernandez, Prince Imperial, who wore the crown. Behind the knights walked Denis Leonel Aguilar and Castro. The parade was accompanied by Princess Karla Padilla and bridesmaid Gabriela Jacome. The queen entered the stage with a suit of imitation leopard skin, with multicolored embroidery and adorned with ostrich feathers, rooster and peacock colors orange, gold and black.

“It was a suit in honor of Queen Amina, eldest daughter of Queen Bakwa Turunku, who ruled in the years 1536 to 1589 and founded the kingdom Zazzau in Africa,” said Nahum Ponce, event coordinator of Tourism.

On Saturday night, also as part of the celebration of the Fair of Isidra, there was a minicarnaval to mark the Solar Eclipse. The Queen of Carnival 2011 Nelsi Desiré, gave up her reign after intense activities in the city. The exuberance was accompanied by Jade Murillo and Erlin Ramirez. Then they gave way to artistic performances of dancers who gave put a touch of carnival at night, as the Preamble of the Grand La Ceiba International Carnival to be held on Saturday May 26, 2012.

“This was a unique experience I will never forget. I thank the Tourism Unit and my family for all their support,” said the former Queen.

Illa Dahpne thanked the designer Eduardo Zablah. “I’m very excited. This is something I will carry all my life in my heart.”

Among the authorities and officials attending the event were Luz del Fátima Matute, head of the Municipal Tourism Unit, the councilor Florence Padilla, who said the words on behalf of Mayor Carlos Aguilar, designers, and the society Ceibeña.
