No Holiday for Striking Teachers

The Secretary of Education, Alejandro Ventura, called for teachers and students to return school throughout the country.

The Education Minister said that public schools and colleges must resume their educational activities in order to fulfill the commitment that teachers made to the government and parents weeks ago.

“Tomorrow is a normal work week because it is important to continue recovering the school days lost,” said the official.

Although Teacher’s Day is celebrated tomorrow across the country (September 17th), Ventura said that all teachers must work holidays to recover the time lost by strikes, and they must attend the classroom, as part of the commitment they undertook with President Porfirio Lobo.

He added that teachers who worked during the strike will be permitted to take tomorrow off.
