Notable Latinos

People en Español has named pop singer Ricky Martin and actress America Ferrera as some of the 15 most influential Hispanics in the United States.

Other notable stars include singers Shakira and Juanes, producers Carla Estrada and María López Álvarez, and journalist Jorge Ramos.

The list also includes United States Treasurer Anna Escobedo Cabral, Coca-Cola executive Santiago Blanco, community leader Lillian Rodríguez López, artists Luis Balaguer and Raúl Mateu, television host Raúl Molina, and gossip king Pérez Hilton.

Last year Ricky Martin was given his own star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the highest honor in excellence at the Premios Lo Nuestro, two Latin Grammy for best male pop album and best music video for “MTV Unplugged.”

Ferrera, star of the hit television series “Ugly Betty” and winner of a Golden Globe and SAG award, has become a model for the Latino community youth.

“I hope to inspire young people to follow their dreams by representing myself in a respectable way,” the actress of Honduran origins said to the magazine.

The special People en Español edition will hit stands on March 3rd.
