President Lobo Welcomes Zelaya Back to Honduras

President Porfirio Lobo Sosa held a telephone conversation with his counterpart from the Dominican Republic, Leonel Fernandez, in which they discussed the issue of the return to Honduras of former President Manuel Zelaya.

Lobo Sosa reiterated that Zelaya may return at will to Honduras without fear of arrest, and even promised to personally travel to the Dominican Republic to bring Manuel Zelaya Rosales back into the country.

Manuel Zelaya remains as a distinguished guest in the Dominican Republic, where he has been since Jan. 27th of this year, when Lobo came to power. He has refused to return to Honduras because of the lawsuits pending against him.

Lobo stated yesterday, that “Today I spoke with President Fernandez of the Dominican Republic, and said President, Manuel Zelaya can return to Honduras at any time, and no one will get arrested.”

President Lobo also said he agreed with the president of the Dominican Republic to set a date for traveling to the Dominican to bring ‘Mel’ Zelaya home to Honduras.
