Rueda Says Goodbye to Honduras

Reinaldo Rueda, who took the Honduran Selección to the World Cup in South Africa for 2010, will no longer be coach of the Honduran National team, he revealed at a press conference yesterday. Accompanied by his staff, he said goodbye, with tears for the country that was his home for the past three years.

“It was a very difficult decision, because these noble people have always shown us great affection and respect. We will always be eternally grateful.”

The conference ended with great emotion, as Reinaldo Rueda choked on his tears. All present were respectfully silent, but after a moment burst into a loud applause.

Rueda is in talks with Ecuador, the United Arab Emirates, and two Central American teams. Possible coach options for Honduras include Alexandre Guimarães, Rodrigo Kenton, René Simoes, and Carlos De Los Cobos.
