Tropical Storm Richard Over Bay Islands

Tropical Storm Richard is upon the Bay Islands. Winds are at 70 mph, five miles per hour short of being officially labeled a Hurricane. Tropical Storm Richard is expected to become a Hurricane within a few hours.

The Bay Island of Utila is experiencing heavy rain and wind gusts, in approximately 15 minute spacings. People from the Cays or Keys, were evacuated to La Ceiba or the neighboring Bay Islands yesterday. Roatan CODEM officials instituted a 10 pm curfew in Roatan, and locals were busy boarding windows and preparing for the harsh weather. On Utila a municipal vehicle road about the island, alterting people of the oncoming storm and announcing official shelter areas.
