Trujillo Judge Fonseca Cruz Suspended

The Judicial Council on Tuesday approved the indefinite suspension of Trujillo Judge María Elena Fonseca Cruz, who was notified to immediately present at the Personnel Division in Tegucigalpa to attend a discharge hearing.

The judge Fonseca Cruz is subject to an investigation by the Inspectorate of Courts, ordered by the Judicial Council, for her release of the prisoner Alex Adán Montes Bobadilla, who is accused of various offenses related to organized criminal activity.Honduras Judge Dismissed

After learning of the order of release for Montes Bobadilla, the judicial authorities immediately ordered an investigation.

In the meeting held by the Judicial Council, the decision was ratified to indefinitely suspend the judge while performing the research process. The official was notified to make use of her right of defense and is to immediately report to the Personnel Division in Tegucigalpa for the corresponding discharge hearing.

Montes Bobadilla was released at midnight on Saturday, from the maximum security prison of the National Penitentiary “Marco Aurelio Soto” located in Tamara, Francisco Morazan, after Judge Fonseca Cruz granted him an official “Letter of Freedom.”
