Vice-President of Congress Murdered

The current governor for the department of Cortes and vice-president of Congress, Mario Fernando Hernandez, was murdered on Monday in a shooting that took place in Barrio Cabanas of San Pedro Sula.

Marcos Collier, lawyer, also resulted dead during the shooting, both men where in a political meeting with one of the pre-candidates for mayor of that city.

The incident took place on the 15th street of barrio Cabanas, near the Penal Center of San Pedro Sula. The politician was participating in a medical brigade at the Luis Landa School, when he said he had to run an errand and would return promptly.

A few minutes later his fellow companions heard some shots and as they went out they found that Hernandez and Collier where the victims. Hernandez was left on the street while Collier was shot inside a car. According to reports, both men where shot from a moving vehicle.

The politician Mario Hernandez was currently the vice-president of the National Congress and a member of the security commission. He was born on November 7th of 1966. Collier worked for Hondutel.

Hernandez was also running to be re-elected as governor of Cortes.
