Wind Farm to be Built for Honduras

Two Spanish companies will be building the Cerro de Hula wind farm to help provide much needed electricity for Honduras.

Gamesa and Iberdrola Ingenieria y Construccion announced that they will be responsible for the 102 MW wind farm in Honduras, which once complete, will be run by Mesoamerica Energy through subsidiary Energia Eolica de Honduras. Mesoamerica has secured a 20-year contract to sell power to Honduras’ Empresa Nacional de Energia Electrica.

In addition to installing 51 Gamesa G87-2 MW wind turbines, the Spanish companies will link the wind farm to the electric grid, build access roads and other infrastructure, and provide maintenance during the first two years of operation.

Financing is being provided by the U.S. Export-Import Bank and the Central American Bank for Economic Integration. The consortium expects construction to be completed within 18 months.

Gamesa has already installed more than 200 MW in five Latin American countries, while Iberdrola Ingenieria is the leading builder of wind farms in Mexico.

This is one of the best news I have found regarding Honduras, we really do need to have improved Power services if we want to participate in the up-coming Global Economy.
Makes me proud and glad to see that some people keep the faith and continue the fight to improve the situation in Honduras, and I will reiterate what I hbeen saying for a while.
Honduras enemy is corruption, fight it and we all win.
