An embassy employee of the (former) Honduran Ambassador, Carlitos Rodriguez, is believed to be responsible for the affair, which was discovered after mission employees arrived to find the embassy in shambles the next day, and Rodriguez’s close friend and bodyguard, Jorge Mendoza, sleeping in the laundry room.

Mr. Rodriguez did not attend the party, and had been on leave since the 15th of December.  He did, however, resign his post out of respect for the countries of Columbia and Honduras, saying “I assume responsibility as the former chief of the mission.”

President Lobo lamented the scandal at the Honduras Embassy in Columbia.

US secret service agents were involved in a similar scandal in Columbia last year.
